What We Learned From Client Projects in 2024

2024 was a year of learning. Across more than 20 active projects — ranging from complex Laravel applications to simple-but-effective WordPress sites for local tradespeople — we picked up lessons that will shape how we work for years to come. **What clients really want is confidence, not complexity.** Time and again, the projects that landed best weren't necessarily the most technically ambitious — they were the ones where clients felt heard, informed and in control. Clear communication beats clever code every time. **Speed matters more than ever.** Core Web Vitals continued to be a hot topic, and rightly so. We doubled down on performance optimisation across all our builds — from image handling and lazy loading to eliminating render-blocking scripts wherever possible. The payoff in search rankings and user experience is real. **WooCommerce projects need more discovery time.** We launched several eCommerce stores in 2024, and the most successful ones shared a common trait: we spent longer in the discovery and scoping phase understanding inventory, fulfilment and customer journeys before writing a line of code. Rushing this phase costs everyone. **Charities deserve great websites too.** Several of our 2024 projects were for charities and non-profits, and we're incredibly proud of the work. These clients have limited budgets but enormous hearts — and great digital experiences help them reach more people and do more good. As we head deeper into 2025, we're carrying these lessons into every project. If you're planning a new website or digital project, [get in touch](/contact) — we'd love to help.
